Zinnige Zorg in-depth phase appropriate post-treatment surveillance of patients with non-melanoma skin cancer or actinic keratosis - letter to Minister
As part of the Zinnige Zorg programme, the National Health Care Institute started the in-depth phase of appropriate post-treatment surveillance of patients with non-melanoma skin cancer or actinic keratosis', at the end of 2015. This letter is to inform the Minister of Medical Care and Sport about the completion of this in-depth phase and the initiation of the implementation phase.
No Room for Improvement Report
Together with the (relevant) stakeholders, we conclude that it would be of no added value to draw up a Room for Improvement Report to improve the after-care of non-melanoma skin cancer or actinic keratosis. We and the stakeholders would prefer to complete the in-depth phase and focus on implementing the guidelines.
the National Health Care Institute will support implementation of the guidelines and monitor their implementation in practice. In 2019 we will inform the Minister about progress of the implementation process and the outcomes of the monitoring phase.

The motto of the National Health Care Institute is "Taking care of good health care: no more and no less than necessary". Every citizen must be able to count on receiving good health care. No more and no less than is necessary, while also avoiding unnecessary costs.
As a public organisation, the National Health Care Institute assesses health care systematically. We assess whether diagnostics and (therapeutic) interventions are being deployed in a patient-oriented, effective and cost-effective manner. We do these analysis within the framework of the 'Zinnige Zorg' (Appropriate Care) programme of the National Health Care Institute.
