The National Health Care Institute has advised the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) to reimburse linzagolix (Yselty®) from the basic health insurance package. This medicine can be used in certain patients with severe blood loss during menstruation due to uterine fibroids. If the Minister takes our advice, linzagolix will be entered into the Medicine Reimbursement System (GVS). Only then will this medicinal product be reimbursed from the healthcare insurer's basic health insurance package.
Current state of affairs: advisory report sent to the Minister
The National Health Care Institute has sent this advice to the Minister of VWS. The Minister makes the final decision whether or not to reimburse the medicinal product from the basic healthcare package.
Linzagolix is intended for people with uterine fibroids
Linzagolix is the active substance. The brand name is Yselty®. The medicine is a tablet to be swallowed.
The medicine can be used for people with uterine fibroids. The uterus is the womb. Fibroids are benign growths. These are tumours that form in the muscle wall of the uterus. Often, these are painless. But sometimes they cause symptoms, such as severe blood loss during menstruation. Linzagolix is specifically intended for adult women of reproductive age with moderate to severe symptoms of uterine fibroids.
