Rimegepant is intended for certain people with migraine
Rimegepant is the active substance. The brand name is Vydura®. The medicinal product is given as a tablet that dissolves under your tongue, after which it can be rapidly absorbed into the blood through the oral mucosa.
The medicinal product can be used in adults with migraine. People with migraine suffer from headache attacks. The medicinal product can be used as an acute treatment for a migraine attack and to reduce the risk of a migraine attack.
The National Health Care Institute advice on the reimbursement of rimegepant
The National Health Care Institute advises the Minister of VWS not to reimburse rimegepant (Vydura®) from the basic healthcare package. The National Health Care Institute in its assessment has determined that the effectiveness of rimegepant for the acute treatment of migraine has not been demonstrated. And as such, the medicinal product does not meet the established medical science and medical practice. This is the legal criterion that healthcare must meet to be reimbursed from the basic health care package.
